RECORD PROMOTION GUIDE
RETAIL DISTRIBUTION
The bottom line to any record labels success, after all is said & done, is sales, sales, sales "PERIOD".
In order to enjoy sales of your recorded materials you have to one day establish a working relationship with either a major label or strong independent distributor. Retail establishments, in general, will not work directly with record labels. Music retailers do their business with various distributors based on supply and demand. How much of a BUZZ does your new release have as a result of your creative promotions and marketing techniques? Until you have created a very visible BUZZ on your product distributors will not find your release a viable item to promote to their retail accounts.
Who are the major and independent distributors and where are they located. What are they looking for in a new client label and/or release? How do you keep distributors abreast of your promotional efforts and any current BUZZ of your product (charts, magazine reviews, college, mix show and commercial radio airplay)?
What is a P&D Deal and how can you get one?
In this section of the Record Promotion Guide CD, get all the answers to these questions along with listing as they apply to retail and distribution.
